Foreign Affairs Council on trade on NOMAD, FTAs, WTO

  • The Council will discuss the new anti-dumping methodology (Presidency’s own deadline for agreement on reform of EU’s trade defence instruments). Since the Commission presented its proposal in November 2016, the Council has worked intensively on this file with the aim of agreeing a Council mandate for negotiations with the European Parliament.
  • Ministers will hold a debate on the implementation of free trade agreements.
  • They will also discuss the WTO and the post-Nairobi process
  • They will take stock of trade relations with Chile, New Zealand and Australia.
  • Over lunch, Ministers will discuss the state of play of trade negotiations with Japan, Mexico and Mercosur.
